Triops (Triops longicaudatus)
Triops Experts has got many Triops. We keep them in big Glass Aquariums in our 'AQAUTICS' Lab. Triops Experts tries to find out different things about these animals as they are very peculiar. For example, Did you know that Triops do not have a heart? No, they pump blood around their body using their brain instead. These are the kinds of things that we try to find out and discover. In case you were wondering, Triops Experts does not aprove of killing or kulling any animal. We do not kill animals for disection. Our Triops live into their old days, and very rarly do we get a Triops dieing of desiese or any young Triops dieing at all.
Housing your Triops,
Triops have been known to grow upto 5 inches in length and will need a nice big aquarium. You may have heard rumours that Triops can climb out of their tanks, this is completly untrue as Triops are 100% aquatic. Your tank should be around 30cm in length, by about 20cm deep. This would comfortably house 5 adults of 8 cm long. When you buy a Triops Kit from our stores or from any other stores, you may get a small tank. Once the Triops Get to 4cm long you are advised to move the Triops in to a tank as specified above. You can buy these from our store and from your local pets shops from as little a £5!
Making your Triops feel comfortable,
A Triops will live for about 90 days - 120 days and in its time will go through various stages in its life (please e-mail us for the life cycle archive) and for it to do so Healthy way, it needs to be kept in Still Mineral water. In a big tank it is recomended to have small gravel and stones for your Triops to play in. You can buy gravel and Mineral water from your local supermarket. Or, if you are 'GREEN' you can fill up your kettle with tap water, boil it, pour it into a container and let it cool. By doing this you are killing off any germs that may be in the tap water and by letting it cool you are not cooking your pet!
Feeding your Triops,
Your Triops will need feeding daily. When they are small (0cm-1cm) feed half a Triops Pellet per Triops per day. As they grow up, feed them 1 pellet per Triops per day. When they are fully grown feed the pellet but also feed it Tropical Fish food - A few flakes per tank. Triops love these and it contains all of the vitimens and some of the animals that make up their natural diet. You may also feed a Triops small chunks of carrot and leaves (3mm peices and only to fully grown Triops), however, do not feed them any meat, or anything unsterile and anything out of a pond or lake, as it will kill them off over night. You may buy Pond weed from a pet shop and swill it around in some mineral or some distilled water.

How big are they?
At birth, the Sea-Monkeys® are very tiny, no larger than the "period " at the end of this sentence. That is why it’s possible to "overlook" them when they are first born. Since their fate is in yours hands, do not discard the formula if you don’t see them right away. To do so would be like "throwing the baby out with the bath water."
Even though they start out so small, Sea-Monkeys® grow up to be between 1/2 to 3/4 an inch in length during a 4 week period. At this stage, they'll start to reproduce and have more adorable babies.
Are Sea-Monkeys® safe?
Sea-Monkeys® are in no way harmful to humans or the environment. If they somehow find their way into natural water ways or sewer lines, they simply will not be able to survive outside of the formula.
